NFL Trade Rumors: Russell Wilson, Chris Olave Perhaps Available Ahead of Deadline
As teh NFL trade deadline approaches, several players are drawing interest from teams looking to bolster their rosters. Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson and New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave are among those reportedly available, according to recent reports.
Wilson has shown visible frustration on the sideline, signaling a potential desire for a change of scenery. A trade could provide Wilson with an opportunity to compete for a starting role, while the Giants could elevate Jameis Winston to the backup quarterback position behind Tommy DeVito. Though, finding a trade partner for Wilson may prove arduous. CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones reported last week that Wilson, along with Kirk Cousins and Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson, had not garnered significant trade interest after losing their starting jobs.Any team acquiring Wilson would only be responsible for the remaining $2 million of his salary, with Jones estimating his trade value as a Day 3 draft pick.
Olave, meanwhile, has been the subject of trade speculation as the 1-4 Saints potentially position themselves as sellers at the deadline. The 25-year-old receiver returned to the field for the 2025 season opener after missing the final eight games of the 2024 season with a concussion and battling an ankle injury in August.Through five games this season, Olave leads the Saints with 33 receptions for 244 receiving yards and one touchdown.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to explore roster upgrades in the coming weeks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The Steelers have been linked to potential wide receiver acquisitions since losing Calvin Austin III to a shoulder injury in Week 4. If the Saints opt to trade olave,he could become a target for Pittsburgh as they seek to strengthen their wide receiving corps.
