Ruparelia Group to Deploy Barge for Enhanced Logistics to Paradise Island Resort
ENTEBBE, Uganda – The Ruparelia Group is bolstering logistical support for its exclusive Paradise Island resort on Lake Victoria with the imminent arrival of a dedicated transport barge. The vessel will streamline the movement of supplies, materials, and personnel to the island, enhancing operational efficiency and guest experience, according to a recent statement from the group.
the move comes as Uganda’s tourism sector experiences a post-pandemic rebound, and the Ruparelia Group seeks to capitalize on growing demand for high-end leisure destinations. Paradise Island, envisioned as a premier East African getaway, requires consistent and reliable transport across the lake. The barge represents a notable investment in that infrastructure, potentially creating jobs in maritime operations and stimulating local economies surrounding Lake Victoria.
Sudhir Ruparelia’s Ruparelia Group initially transformed the mainland property, formerly known as O, into a world-class convention center in the late 1990s, establishing a strong presence in Uganda’s hospitality landscape. Paradise Island extends this ambition, offering a secluded luxury experience.
“This is more than transport; it’s about seamless luxury in harmony with nature,” a group spokesperson stated. The barge’s integration is designed to ensure uninterrupted service and a smooth experience for resort guests.
The Ruparelia group has previously faced public discussion regarding lakefront developments and past backfilling practices. Though, officials consistently assert their adherence to environmental regulations set forth by bodies like the National Surroundings Management Authority (NEMA).
Industry observers anticipate the barge will not only improve Paradise Island’s operations but also serve as a model for logistical solutions in Uganda’s developing tourism sector. The resort’s debut is eagerly anticipated, with the barge’s arrival marking a key step toward its launch.
