A banner proclaiming “Ruby Liu hires! Meeting entrepreneurs in Toronto!” was displayed at the Intercontinental hotel on Saturday, offering a beacon of hope for former Hudson’s Bay employees who have lost their jobs.
The initiative by Ms. Liu is seen as a potential lifeline for those displaced from their positions. Kveton, who dedicated 27 years to Hudson’s Bay, expressed cautious optimism, stating, “Ruby said she wanted to focus on our rehiring. We don’t really know if we will have jobs or not, but it seems positive.”
Kveton further commented on Ms. Liu’s outlook, adding, “She has a positive vision. And we wish her success. it remains to be seen what will happen.” She believes that department stores must adapt to survive the dominance of online retail. “This is the direction that the retail trade must take. We all face significant competition in trying to make a living in a physical store. And this competition is online shopping,” kveton explained.
Concluding her thoughts, kveton remarked,”If she succeeds, she will be a canadian heroine.”
