Royal Vermin: New Free-to-Play Fighting Game Now Available on Nintendo Switch

A recent free-to-play title, Royal Vermin, has been released on the Nintendo eShop, expanding the growing library of no-cost games available on Nintendo Switch and, as of this week, the newly released Nintendo Switch 2.

The chaotic local party game, developed for 2-4 players, casts players as rats, seagulls, and other pests vying for control of a throne in a world overrun by vermin following the disappearance of humans. Gameplay features ranged combat, chargeable projectiles, and dynamically collapsing arenas, designed to create unpredictable matches.

Nintendo officially lists Royal Vermin as supported on the Nintendo Switch 2, with consistent game behavior across both consoles. The game requires 1.2 GB of storage space on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, according to Nintendo.

Key features of Royal Vermin include simple, accessible controls intended to appeal to new players, a “Revenge Mode” allowing eliminated players to influence ongoing matches, and high replayability through dynamic levels and special objectives. The game is designed to maintain competitive tension until the final round.

The release of Royal Vermin comes alongside a broader expansion of the Nintendo Switch 2 game library, with Resident Evil: Requiem and Resident Evil Generation Pack launching on February 27, 2026. Nintendo also announced that Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness will be added to Nintendo Switch Online in March 2026.
