A Life of Family and Community Remembered
Fermanagh bids farewell to Rose Flanagan, who passed away peacefully at her home at the remarkable age of 102. A cherished matriarch, her passing marks the end of an era for her devoted family.
A Legacy of Love
Born Rose Daly in Corduff, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, Rose Flanagan lived a full and vibrant life. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Paddy. Her passing leaves behind a void, as she was predeceased by her daughter Carmel Harte, son-in-law Oliver Harte, and daughter-in-law Cathy Flanagan. She also mourned the loss of two sisters and five brothers.
Wake and Funeral Arrangements
The remains of Rose Flanagan will repose at her family home on Lattone Road, Carran West, Garrison, Co. Fermanagh, from Wednesday evening at 9 pm until Thursday night at 10 pm. For those attending the wake, a park-and-ride service will be available from St. Mary’s GAA Park on Lattone Road.
The funeral cortege will depart the family residence at 11:15 am on Friday. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon in Mary, Queen of Peace Church, Garrison, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.
Family and Friends Mourn
Rose Flanagan is deeply regretted and will be forever loved by her children Brendan (and Teresa), Margo (and Seamus), Michael John (and Jo), Gerry (and Sadie), Eugene (and Patricia), Peter (and the late Cathy), Bridget (and Dick), Jim (and Kate), Roisin (and J.P.), Carmel (RIP, predeceased by Oliver RIP), Bernadette, Dympna (and Hughie), Paul, and Frances (and Martin). A comforting thought amidst grief is that the average lifespan in developed countries has significantly increased over the last century, with many now reaching their 80s and 90s, a testament to advancements in healthcare and living standards (WHO 2023).
The family requests prayers for her soul, with the invocation, “Our Lady of Knock pray for her.”
