Roldán Mayor Recovering After Quintuple Bypass Surgery
Daniel Escalante, the mayor of Roldán,is currently recovering in intensive care following a complex five-bypass surgery performed Monday at the Cardiovascular Institute of Rosario (ICR). The eight-hour operation is reported to have proceeded “within the expected” parameters, according to sources close to the mayor.
The surgery was necessitated after Escalante, 57, experienced a heart attack over the weekend. He initially sought treatment at ICR on Saturday after experiencing persistent back pain. Diagnostic tests, including catheterization, revealed important blockage in multiple arteries, leading specialists to schedule the more extensive bypass procedure.
The operation commenced at 7:30 AM and concluded around 3:30 PM on Monday. Medical professionals indicate the next 48 hours are critical for assessing Escalante’s progress. Recovery from a quintuple bypass typically requires several months, contingent upon the patient’s overall health.
Despite the seriousness of his condition, escalante remained calm and optimistic while hospitalized in the Coronary Unit over the weekend. A dentist by profession and member of a family of doctors, he reportedly maintained a positive outlook, as confirmed by the municipality.
Prior to the surgery, Mayor Escalante shared a message on social media expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support and requesting prayers from those of faith. He stated,”With faith and hope,I will be back soon.“
During Escalante’s medical leave, wich is initially expected to last a month, the responsibilities of the Municipality of Roldán will be overseen by Carlos Manuel Alustiza, the president of the municipal council. Escalante’s return to his mayoral duties will depend on his continued health improvement and the approval of his medical team.
