Robert Pattinson has spoken about the ambient music that he created while filming The batman, and which remains unreleased.
The Twilight star played the DC superhero in Matt Reeves’ 2022 blockbuster, and as he revealed at the time of the film’s release, he spent some of his time during the film’s production working on a batch of his own music.
Now, he has reflected on that period in an interview with GQ, where he was asked about his decision to use his down time to focus on his unheard musical endeavours.
“During Batman, I made tons and tons of music,” Pattinson explained. “It was really getting into it. It’s very ambient-y. I just… I was getting into weird synth stuff.”
He continued: “I was trying to make something that felt like… the feeling of being in the Batsuit. It’s a very particular feeling. It’s not necessarily a fun feeling. It’s a very isolated, sort of… lonely feeling.”
Pattinson added that he’s unsure if the music will ever see the light of day. “I don’t know if it’s good,” he said. “I just really needed to do it at the time.”
Previously, Pattinson discussed his musical efforts while in costume, saying: “I was just sitting in the Batsuit for six hours, and I was like, ‘I really need to do something.’ I just started making music.” He described the music as “ambient electronic stuff” and said he’d been “properly” getting into it.
