Robert Gustafsson Confronts Life’s Big Questions in Upcoming Documentary
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN – Swedish comedian Robert Gustafsson is set to explore his decades-long career and grapple with existential questions in a new three-part documentary series premiering October 17 on TV4. The series, titled “The Comedian bastard,” arrives following Gustafsson’s 60th birthday last year, prompting a period of reflection on his life and work.
The documentary will revisit key locations from Gustafsson’s career – cities, theaters, and recording studios – alongside classic clips from his most beloved sketches. Featuring interviews with frequent collaborators including Henrik Schyffert, Johan Rheborg (of the “Killinggänget” comedy troupe), Suzanne Reuter, Felix Herngren, and Björn Gustafsson, the series promises a candid look behind the laughter.
Gustafsson admits the process of looking back has been unsettling. “I have apparently worked as a perfect idiot 45 years in a row without realizing that you have only one life,” he stated in a press release. “What have I achieved? Have I had fun? what do I leave behind? The documentary is a laughable story that forced me to look back, but I still do not know if I am grateful for it.”
The series offers audiences a rare glimpse into the personal reflections of one of Sweden‘s most iconic comedic figures, as he navigates the complexities of a life dedicated to making others laugh.
