Marriott to Anchor Rivana Business Park Expansion with $40 Million Hotel Investment
Medellín, Colombia – A new Marriott hotel will be a key component of the second stage expansion of Rivana Business Park, representing a $40 million investment aimed at solidifying Medellín’s position as a growing corporate hub. The project is expected to generate 170 direct jobs promptly, with the full second stage projected to exceed 3,000 jobs overall.
The new hotel is intended to offer a complete experience for companies and senior executives visiting Medellín, while attracting multinational and foreign companies considering establishing operations in the city. “This new hotel represents a decisive step in the consolidation of Rivana as a business ecosystem connected to global trends,” said Rafael londoño Lema, president of QBO Constructores.
Rivana already boasts a corporate ecosystem including Mercado Libre, Accenture, Seguros Bolívar, and Corredores Davivienda. The park’s design integrates offices, commerce, public spaces, and accommodation, mirroring urban progress models seen in global financial centers like Hudson yards in New york, Canary Wharf in London, and La Défense in Paris.
The announcement comes amid a surge in corporate tourism to Medellín. Migration Colombia data shows over 20,900 business visitors arrived in Antioquia between January and August 2025. Medellín captured 35% of the risk capital raised in Colombia in 2023 and has attracted more than 370 foreign direct investment projects as 2008, according to ACI Medellín.
“The fact that high-profile companies such as Mercado Libre and Accenture choose to set up shop in Medellín confirms that the city has become a hub business strategy for Colombia and the region,” Londoño Lema highlighted. National Geographic recently recognized Medellín’s growing appeal, including it on its “Best of the World” list for 2026.
