Rising NBA star Antonio Reeves hosts youth basketball camp in Chicago

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

NBA prospect Antonio Reeves returned to his Chicago roots on Sunday to host a youth basketball camp in Jackson Park.

Reeves, who recently signed a two-way contract with the Charlotte Hornets, guided young athletes thru drills and scrimmages. He was joined by former U.S. Education Secretary and Chicago public Schools CEO Arne Duncan in leading the event.

“Basically just come out and have fun, to be honest, you know, just give back to the community is my main thing,” Reeves stated about the camp’s purpose.

A former standout at Simeon Career academy, Reeves played collegiately for the University of Kentucky for three seasons, following two seasons at Illinois State. He was selected by the New Orleans Pelicans as the 47th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The Pelicans waived Reeves earlier this month, and he subsequently signed with the Hornets.
