Riga “Prizma” Falls to Tallinn “Panter” in OHL Matchup
Riga’s “Prizma” suffered a 4-1 defeat against Tallinn’s ”Panter” Tuesday in a game of the Optibet Hockey League (OHL). The loss occurred on home ice, marking “Panter’s” second consecutive victory after a four-game losing streak.
The result impacts “Prizma’s” standing in the competitive OHL, a league that determines not only the Baltic champion through its playoffs, but also the national champions of Latvia and Lithuania based on the highest-placed teams from those countries. This season features a five-round tournament with each team playing a demanding 40-match schedule-the most extensive regular season as the 2007/2008 Latvian Super League Championship.
Artjoms Abelyanovs opened the scoring for the visitors early in the first period. Roberts Yekimovs briefly leveled the score for “Prizma” in the opening minute of the second, but Akim Frolkov, Nikita Fedovrits, and Vadim Vasyonkin afterward added goals for “Panter,” solidifying their win.
Current standings show Kyiv “Capitals” leading with 22 points from 12 games, followed closely by “Zemgale“/LBTU and ”Mogo”/RSU, both with 21 points-the latter having played 15 matches. “Liepāja hockey team” holds 20 points in 13 games, while “Prizma” now has 16 points after 14 matches.”Panter” climbs to 11 points in 13 games. ”Energija” of Elektreni (5 points in 11 games), “Riga Hockey School” (3 points in 9 games), and Vilnius “Hockey Punks” (2 points in 11 games) round out the table.
The OHL includes depiction from Latvia (“Mogo”/RSU, Jelgava “Zemgale”/LBTU, “Rīgas hokeja skola”, “Prizma”, and “Liepājas hockey team”), Lithuania (Elektrēna “Energija” and Vilnius “Hockey Punks”), Estonia (Tallinn “Panter”), and Ukraine (Kyiv “Capitals”). The top six teams will qualify for the playoffs. Last season’s champions, “Mogo”/RSU, defeated “Zemgale”/LBTU 4-1 in the final series.
