Ricochet Apology: Not AEW Pressure, But Personal Advice | Wrestling News
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Ricochet issued an apology for a social media comment directed at a fan battling multiple sclerosis, but the decision to do so was not prompted by the wrestling organization, according to reports. The controversy erupted after Ricochet responded to a fan’s critique of his performance following his loss at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view.
The fan, identified as Sandi T., commented on an AEW post showcasing Ricochet’s backstage reaction to the loss, stating, “His acting hasn’t improved.” Sandi T.’s X profile indicates she lives with multiple sclerosis, and Ricochet replied to her comment with, “I’m glad you got MS.”
The comment quickly drew widespread condemnation from fans and within the wrestling community. Ricochet subsequently deleted the post and issued a public apology on X, stating he had “taken out [his] hatred for the IWC [Internet Wrestling Community] on Sandi, and inadvertently others who are effected by MS.” He added, “She didn’t deserve it, and for that I sincerely apologize.”
Initial speculation suggested AEW officials intervened and compelled Ricochet to apologize. However, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Ricochet’s decision to delete the tweet and issue the apology stemmed from a conversation with a longtime friend and former independent wrestling colleague. This friend reportedly encouraged him to reconsider his response and remove the post.
Sources confirmed to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW did not contact Ricochet regarding the incident, nor did they request any public statement. Despite online assumptions, the company reportedly allowed Ricochet to handle the situation independently.
The situation escalated beyond the initial exchange, with reports of threats being made against Samantha Irvin, Ricochet’s wife, following the controversy, as reported by multiple sources.
Despite the apology, many fans expressed skepticism about its sincerity, with some suggesting it was a calculated move prompted by potential repercussions from AEW. One response on X stated, “You were still reposting things defending your actions and saying you were justified doing so just a couple hours ago…You’re not sorry, you got the call from upstairs.”
As of March 21, 2026, AEW has not publicly commented on the incident beyond allowing Ricochet to address the situation himself. It remains unclear whether the organization will grab further action.
