Former World Boxing Champion Ricky Hatton Dies at 46

Ricky Hatton, the beloved former world boxing champion known for his thrilling fights and charismatic personality, has died at the age of 46. News of his passing emerged Sunday, prompting an outpouring of tributes from across the sporting world.

Hatton’s death marks a significant loss for the boxing community and fans worldwide. A symbol of British boxing’s resurgence in the 2000s, “The Hitman” captivated audiences with his aggressive style and unwavering determination, achieving world titles in the light welterweight and junior welterweight divisions. His legacy extends beyond the ring, inspiring a generation of fighters and earning him a place in the hearts of sports enthusiasts.

Fellow boxing icon Amir Khan was among the first to express his grief, describing Hatton as “a friend, a mentor, a warrior.” Khan continued, “Ricky, thanks for everything. World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury simply stated, “There will only be one Ricky Hatton.” Chris Eubank Jr. also offered his condolences, writing, “rest in peace, Mr. Ricky Hatton. We greet you.”

Beyond boxing, tributes came from other sports. Former Golden Ball winner Michael Owen,a celebrated soccer player,wrote,”Rip Rick Hatton. What a great man. And what boxer. Incredibly sad news.”

Hatton is survived by his three children, Millie, Fearne, and Campbell, and also his granddaughter, Lyla. Details regarding his passing have not been instantly released.
