Richmond Fire-Rescue Extinguishes Apartment Garage Fire
Richmond Fire-Rescue crews spent approximately three hours extinguishing a fire that damaged three vehicles in an apartment building parking garage on Saturday, January 27, 2026.
Firefighters responded to the scene at approximately 4:12 PM. Upon arrival, they found multiple vehicles ablaze within the underground parking garage. Crews quickly worked to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to othre parts of the building or adjacent structures.
“The fire was challenging to extinguish due to the confined space and the presence of flammable materials within the vehicles,” stated a Richmond Fire-Rescue spokesperson. “Our crews worked diligently to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and the scene was safe.”
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Fire investigators are on scene working to determine the origin and contributing factors. No injuries were reported as an inevitable result of the incident.
While the fire was contained to three vehicles, other parked cars in the garage sustained smoke and heat damage. Residents were temporarily evacuated as a precaution, but were allowed to return to their units once the area was deemed safe.
