Richlands Highway Closed Due to Gas Leak – Onslow County Update
A gas leak prompted the closure of a stretch of Richlands Highway in Onslow County, North Carolina, on Monday, March 24, 2026, authorities reported.
The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office first announced the road closure at 4:06 p.m., stating that Richlands Highway was shut down between Blue Creek Road and Burgaw Highway due to the leak, which occurred near the intersection of Bratton Drive and Richlands Highway. Drivers were advised to avoid the area.
According to DriveNC, the road was expected to reopen around 9:30 p.m. Monday evening. However, the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office later announced that the highway had reopened.
