March 25, 2026 Priya Shah – Business Editor Business

A gas leak prompted the closure of a stretch of Richlands Highway in Onslow County, North Carolina, on Monday, March 24, 2026, authorities reported.

The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office first announced the road closure at 4:06 p.m., stating that Richlands Highway was shut down between Blue Creek Road and Burgaw Highway due to the leak, which occurred near the intersection of Bratton Drive and Richlands Highway. Drivers were advised to avoid the area.

According to DriveNC, the road was expected to reopen around 9:30 p.m. Monday evening. However, the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office later announced that the highway had reopened.

First responders were dispatched to the scene to address the leak, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Further updates were promised as they became available.
