Ricardo Gonzales Romero sought by Toronto police after GPS breach
Toronto police are searching for 22-year-old Ricardo Gonzales Romero, who allegedly tampered with or cut off his GPS ankle monitor and missed a court date following his arrest for a January home invasion and stabbing, according to reports.
The incident unfolded late at night on Jan. 22, 2026. Authorities responded to a stabbing call around 11:27 p.m. near Kennedy Road and Ellesmere Road, where two male suspects knocked on a door and forced their way inside upon being answered. The intruders assaulted the resident while demanding cash, taking an undisclosed amount of money before a second victim appeared. One of the suspects then produced a knife, stabbed that second victim in the stomach, and fled the scene.
Investigators subsequently tracked down two suspects in the months following the attack. Francisco Garcia Arroyo, 32, of Toronto, was arrested on May 4 and charged with two counts of robbery with a weapon and aggravated assault. Several weeks later, on July 16, Ricardo Gonzales Romero was arrested and charged with the identical offenses.
While Garcia Arroyo’s post-arrest status was not detailed beyond his initial charges, Gonzales Romero was granted bail under strict conditions that required him to wear a GPS-monitored ankle bracelet. That electronic supervision broke down on Sept. 16 at approximately 8 p.m., when monitoring authorities notified investigators that Gonzales Romero had tampered with or cut off his device. He compounded the breach by failing to show up for a scheduled court appearance on Sept. 22.
