kerala Agriculture Secretary B.Ashok Challenges Transfer to World Bank Post
Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala – B. Ashok, recently removed from his position as Principal Secretary of the Kerala Agriculture Department, intends to challenge his transfer to the World Bank department within the state government, alleging it is retaliatory. Ashok initiated a 15-day leave prior to the transfer and plans to file a complaint with the Central Administrative Tribunal, seeking redress.
The transfer follows Ashok’s directive to investigate how funds were allocated within the Agriculture Department, specifically concerning a report on departmental expenses. Sources indicate the examination focused on the gathering of data related to departmental spending. The move comes ahead of a scheduled visit this month by a World Bank team to review the progress of a Kerala project.
ashok’s displacement has drawn criticism, with some suggesting it is linked to his inquiry. He was appointed to the post after previously serving as Chairman of the Kerala Transport Growth Finance Corporation (KTDFC). The government has not publicly commented on the reasons for the transfer.
