Return to Paradise series three launches on BBC

October 26, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Detective Sergeant Mackenzie Clarke returns to BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Friday, November 6, 2026, as the third series of the Australia-set Death in Paradise spin-off Return to Paradise launches with a double bill. Anna Samson reprises her lead role for the six-part drama, bringing fresh murders and personal friction to Dolphin Cove.

Double-Bill Premiere Date on BBC One

The six-part series arrives in the UK on Friday, November 6, 2026, bbc.com reported. According to scheduling details published by Radio Times, the opening episode broadcasts on BBC One at 7:30 pm, immediately followed by the second episode at 8:30 pm. Both previous seasons remain available to stream on BBC iPlayer for viewers catching up before the premiere.

Detective Clarke Returns for New Complex Cases

The new run of 60-minute episodes places Detective Sergeant Mackenzie Clarke back at work alongside Senior Constable Colin Cartwright, played by Lloyd Griffith, following the departure of pathologist Glenn Strong, played by Tai Hara. The BBC synopsis outlines a slate of complex cases for the team, including an artist stabbed in front of an audience, a wildlife worker found dead inside a locked cassowary cage, and a film director shot at her own screening.

Cast members returning for the third outing include Catherine McClements as Senior Sergeant Philomena Strong, Celia Ireland as Reggie Rocco, and Aaron McGrath as Constable Felix Wilkinson. Production is handled by BBC Studios Australia Productions in partnership with Red Planet Pictures for the ABC, with international distribution managed across more than 93 territories by BBC Studios.

New Family Arrivals and Romance

Personal complications accompany the criminal investigations for the protagonist. Kerry Armstrong joins the cast as Mack’s mother, Jillian, an arrival that the BBC characterises as a force of nature testing the detective’s composure. Meanwhile, actor Jacob Collins takes on the role of Leo Drake, a new pathologist whose charm catches Mack’s attention. The narrative also addresses the fallout from Glenn’s departure and career changes, alongside guest appearances from actors including Ngali Shaw, Mark Lee, Zöe Ventoura, Anthony Hayes, Matt Day, Bruce Spence, and Robert Mammone.
