Zlatko Tripic Receives Two-Match Ban Following incident in Elite Series Match
[CITY, DATE] – Zlatko Tripic has been charged with a two-match quarantine following an incident during the elite series match between Viking and Rosenborg on August 31st. The decision was handed down by the Disciplinary Committee.
According to documentation released by the committee, Tripic is accused of “violent performance” against Rosenborg player Adrian Pereira. The committee stated they beleive Tripic “performed a necklace with both hands against Rosenborg player Adrian Pereira’s neck,” characterizing the action as a throat grip lasting “for some time.”
While the committee acknowledged the grip was not a stranglehold, they persistent it fell under the definition of “violent behavior” as outlined in the rules of football, specifically playing rule 12.3. This definition states a player is guilty of violent behavior if they “use or try to use unnecessarily a lot of power or brutality against an opponent…whether physical contact or not.”
The initial recommendation for a reaction measurement was a three-match quarantine, as per guidelines point 3 g). Though, the committee considered mitigating factors, including the “moderate power” of the grip and the “heated situation” in which it occurred.”After a total overall assessment, the disciplinary committee is essentially endorsed by the prosecution board’s assessment, and finds that the attitude of two matches quarantine will be an appropriate reaction,” the committee stated. The quarantine will be served in the next two series matches for Viking’s first team. Tripic has the right to appeal the decision to the appeal committee. The Disciplinary Committee’s decision was made pursuant to section 4-26 (1) and section 4-26, first paragraph, of the reaction regulations, allowing them to handle cases of violations committed in connection with a fight without expulsion, particularly in situations not initially judged by the referee.
