Resident Evil: How Camera Angles Defined 30 Years of Horror
Today marks the 30th anniversary of the Resident Evil series, with Capcom celebrating the milestone after the release of Resident Evil Requiem last month. The franchise, which debuted on March 22nd, 1996, is acknowledging the occasion with a series of announcements, including collaborations and modern experiences for fans.
Resident Evil Requiem, a return to the series’ origins in Raccoon City, has already reached over six million players worldwide, according to Capcom’s Executive Producer Jun Takeuchi. “Our team will continue to perform hard to bring all of you even more wonderful experiences in the future—and it would be an honor if you continued along with us on that journey,” Takeuchi stated in a press release issued today.
Capcom is expanding the Resident Evil universe through a collaboration with Universal Studios Japan. The project, slated for release sometime in 2026, promises to immerse fans in the game’s world “like never before.” Further details regarding the Universal Studios Japan collaboration are expected later this year.
A new arcade experience, Resident Evil 2: Arcade, developed by Bandai Namco, is also on the horizon. The light gun game features “air jets and floor vibration technology” designed to heighten the sense of fear as players confront zombies. A test launch is scheduled to take place in Japan this month, with wider details to be released on the official website and Bandai Namco Amusement Unit’s social media channels.
Fans of the series can also attend “Symphony of Legacy,” a 30th-anniversary concert with tickets currently on sale. The world tour schedule is available on the official website.
Capcom is also offering the Resident Evil Generation Pack, available for purchase until March 31st, 2026.
