Renell Medrano and Adidas Host Second Annual ICE Studios Series Softball Tournament

July 28, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Renell Medrano and Adidas hosted the second annual ICE Studios City Series women’s softball tournament at the Dream Charter School field in East Harlem, featuring custom team jerseys, graffiti helmets, and a competitive matchup between team New York and team Dominican Republic.

The event brought Black and Brown women from all five boroughs to upper Manhattan via big yellow school buses, establishing a high-fashion intersection of sports and community engagement. According to press materials released around the event, the tournament was created by Bronx-born photographer, director, and ICE Magazine creator Renell Medrano in collaboration with Adidas to recreate childhood sports memories and foster local connections. The cultural gathering took place while New York City remained energized by regional sports milestones, including the Knicks’ championship run and World Cup fervor.

Fashion, Food, and Athletic Competition on the Diamond

The 3-hour game featured meticulously styled athletic gear curated by Medrano’s ICE Girls. Team New York wore blue Adidas Originals jerseys featuring the signature ICE Studios logo inscribed on the front, while team Dominican Republic took the field in black uniforms with their respective flags pinned to the shoulders. Both squads completed their kits with custom ICE Studios bandanas, Adidas socks, wristbands, specialized bats, and high-traction cleats designed for the diamond.

Spectators immersed in the Adidas-branded environment enjoyed wagyu chopped cheeses and fruit punch icees while watching the action unfold. The tournament was hosted by casting director Jorge Gitoo Wright and Luar founder Raul Lopez. The contest proved fiercely competitive, featuring hard-hitting plays, foul balls, and disputed calls that kept fans on edge until the final inning. Ultimately, team New York secured the victory and took home the championship trophy.

Building Community and Brand Equity Through Sport

Beyond the final score, the event functioned as a deliberate exercise in community-building and lifestyle brand expansion. “I grew up playing softball, and some of my favorite memories came from being part of a team,” Medrano stated in the official press release. “As I got older, I realized how much I missed that sense of community, so I started ICE Studios City Series to bring women together through sport.”

While team Dominican Republic dropped the championship game, the activation reinforced ICE Studios’ cultural footprint in New York fashion and lifestyle circles.

Medrano emphasized that the enduring goal of the series is interpersonal connection rather than competitive dominance. “My hope is that it continues to grow into a community where women show up for each other year after year,” she noted, pointing out that seeing participants fully present marked the true success of the weekend.
