Renault Redesigns Clio for Sixth Generation

Renault has undertaken a complete redesign for the sixth generation of the Clio, aiming to capture the top spot in its segment. The new model features a striking exterior design, a revamped interior focused on sustainability and technology, and an updated engine range including a new hybrid option.

The exterior is defined by a bold front end, complemented by a bar that spans the entire front. While the design may not appeal to everyone, Renault’s design chief, Van den acker, emphasizes that all decisions were validated by test groups. “The risk in some cases is not risking,” he stated, expressing confidence in the product. A new light signature incorporates large daytime running lights forming the diamond of the Renault logo, alongside projection headlights set within a black housing.The Clio VI is larger than its predecessor, measuring 4.12 meters long (a 67mm increase), 1.80 meters wide (a 39mm increase), and 1.45 meters high (an 11mm increase). The wheelbase has also been extended to 2.59 meters, contributing to a more dynamic stance accentuated by a shark fin antenna and an integrated spoiler. Seven color options are available, including the new Absolute Red and Absolute Green.

Inside, the cabin utilizes recycled materials and customizable ambient lighting with 48 options, including an Esprit Alpine Alcantara fabric version. A prominent feature is the 10.1-inch V-shaped touchscreen integrated with the Google system – a rarity in this segment. The interior also boasts a compact steering wheel with a multi-sense button for selecting driving modes. storage spaces have been prioritized,including a central console with an articulated lid. Luggage capacity ranges up to 391 liters, depending on the engine.

Renault has also focused on improving the Clio’s performance and efficiency.A new 160hp hybrid powertrain combines a 1.8-liter engine with an electric motor,achieving a recorded 89g CO2/km and a combined fuel consumption of 3.9 liters/100 km – representing up to 40% savings.Renault claims up to 80% of urban driving can be conducted in electric mode. The engine range also includes updated 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline options with 115hp or 120hp (the latter also available with GPL and an automatic transmission).

Built on the CMF-B platform, the new Clio benefits from improvements in comfort, dynamic behavior, and sound insulation.The E-Tech 160 hybrid utilizes a gearbox incorporating Formula 1 technology, with two gear ratios for the electric motor and four for the combustion engine.The new Renault Clio is expected to arrive between the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2026, with pricing yet to be announced.
