Remains Identified as Travis Decker, Suspect in Daughters’ Deaths
SNOQUALMIE PASS, WA – Authorities have confirmed the remains discovered in a remote area near Snoqualmie Pass on September 24, 2024, have been positively identified as Travis Decker, the man wanted in connection with the presumed deaths of his two daughters. The King County Sheriff’s Office announced the identification on September 26, 2024, concluding a week-long intensive search.
the discovery brings a somber end to a case that gripped the Pacific Northwest, raising fears for the safety of Addyson and Nevaeh Decker, ages 5 and 8, who were last seen with their father on September 16, 2024. While the girls remain missing, the identification of Decker’s remains is a critical step in the investigation, allowing authorities to shift focus toward locating the children and determining the circumstances surrounding their disappearance. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office is currently working to establish the cause and time of decker’s death.
Decker was the subject of a nationwide search after failing to return his daughters to their mother following a scheduled visit. A warrant was issued for his arrest on September 19, 2024, charging him with two counts of first-degree kidnapping. Investigators pursued numerous leads, including a reported sighting near an alpine lake, before the discovery of remains in a heavily wooded area.
