As of next August, El Refugio and Veterinary Hospital will begin in the Metropolitan Zone “Huellitas” from San Luis Potosí who, according to the governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardonawill have operating rooms for sterilization and space for the adoption of more than A thousand animals.
During an interview, the state president explained that the project will start first in Soledad de Graciano Sánchez And if it works, it could be replicated in other areas.
“We will look first to pull this”, with infrastructure that includes three operating rooms and ability to perform between 15 and 20 surgeries daily.
He assured that the hospital will be free and will be open not only for loneliness, but also for Villa de Pozos, San Luis Potosí and other points in the conurbation area.
In addition to medical services, the shelter will offer adoptions of rescued animals and will have an aesthetic area to “make dogs and cats handsome, with the aim of increasing their adoption possibilities.
“Marketing is going to end,” Gallardo said.
In a first stage, the shelter will operate with 15 personasplus a group of veterinary doctors. The president said that this figure could be extended depending on the demand.
The figures they gave speak of more than 700 dogs and between 300 and 350 cats ready to be adopted once the place between operation.
One of the questions raised during the interview was whether there will be coordination with independent rescuers or other organizations. Gallardo said that all animal protective associations may be part of the project and participate in their operation.
For now, the shelter will limit itself to attending the metropolitan area, leaving municipalities such as those of the Altiplano region and Huastecawhere the problem of animal abandonment and abuse is also a constant.
When questioned about a possible expansion, the governor just said that they will first concentrate on this headquarters.
The ethical treatment of animals, and the true inclusion of the groups that have been working with their own resources in the rescue and care of abandoned domestic fauna will be seen over time in this first hospital and shelter by state government.
