Reegan Mullaney Named MAAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week | Siena Saints
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. — Siena College senior Reegan Mullaney has been named the MAAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday, following a pair of 4-3 victories for the Saints over Le Moyne College and Binghamton University.
Mullaney, a native of Edina, Minnesota, secured clinching points in both matches. Against Le Moyne on Saturday, she defeated Alicia Alvarez in a three-set match, 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-3, at the No. 5 singles position, sealing the win for Siena. She also partnered with Selma Bellaouchi to win their doubles match against Lilia Raiss and Emma Sanchez Jimenez, 6-3.
The following day, Mullaney again delivered a decisive victory, this time against Binghamton’s Samantha Jaros, winning 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 5 singles spot. Mullaney and Bellaouchi continued their successful partnership, defeating Nitya Vyas and Jaros 6-2 in doubles play.
The Saints’ recent successes have brought their record to 7-1 including five wins decided by a 4-3 scoreline. According to the Siena College Athletics website, Mullaney’s older sister, Kylie Mullaney, also played tennis for the Saints, contributing to their 2021 MAAC Championship victory.
Siena is scheduled to continue its season on Saturday, February 28, with a 7:15 p.m. Match against Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
