Redman reveals Initial Jealousy Over Faith Evans‘ Relationship with The Notorious B.I.G.
In a recent interview, rapper Redman jokingly admitted to feeling “jealous” when his former high school sweetheart, Faith Evans, began dating The Notorious B.I.G. The revelation surfaced during a conversation on the Action Entertainment YouTube channel on Wednesday (Sept. 10), offering a glimpse into the early connections of three iconic figures in Hip Hop and R&B.
Redman and Evans, both New Jersey natives, dated prior to achieving fame. Their relationship began thanks to a connection between Redman’s sister and Evans, who were close friends. While acknowledging initial feelings of jealousy, Redman emphasized his genuine happiness for Evans and Biggie, stating, “When she started dating Biggie and all that stuff, I was like, yeah, you know, ’cause I was doing my thing.” He clarified that they had already parted ways romantically but remained supportive of each other.
“Me and Faith was dating at a very young age, before we got on, way before, you know,” Redman explained. “She’s always been a sweetheart to me. She’s always been my heart.” He further noted Evans’ intelligence and good judgment, adding, “faith had always been a smart person… She dated Biggie, and I was like happy for him.”
Before Evans signed with Bad Boy Records, Redman attempted to jumpstart her career, arranging a meeting with the group EPMD, though their musical styles weren’t a fit at the time. Redman’s debut album, Whut? Thee Album, was released in 1992, while Evans’ first project, Faith, arrived in 1995.
biggie Smalls passed away in 1997 at the age of 24. He and Evans shared one child, Christopher “C.J.” Wallace Jr. Despite the passage of time, Redman and Evans have maintained a supportive relationship.
