Red Wings Fall to Senators: Kasper Plays, Playoff Hopes Dim

March 25, 2026 Lucas Fernandez – World Editor World

The Detroit Red Wings suffered a 3-2 defeat against the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. Despite a late push, Detroit was unable to overcome an early deficit established by Ottawa.

Brady Tkachuk opened the scoring for the Senators in the first period. Carter Yakemchuk extended Ottawa’s lead to 2-0 at the 30-minute mark, followed quickly by Lars Eller making it 3-0 just two minutes later. Detroit responded before the end of the second period with a goal from Dominik Shine.

Dylan Larkin brought the Red Wings within one goal at 45 minutes into the game, injecting momentum into Detroit’s attack. Marco Kasper, a 20-year-old forward, was in the lineup for the Red Wings but did not register a point despite being involved in several offensive sequences.

A flurry of penalties in the final minute disrupted the game’s flow, ultimately allowing Ottawa to hold onto the 3-2 lead. The game took place after Ottawa announced that Brady Tkachuk would be sidelined for four weeks with a hand injury, a significant blow to the Senators’ lineup.

With the loss, Detroit has fallen out of the playoff positions in the Eastern Conference, currently holding 84 points. Though, they remain only one point behind the New York Islanders, who have played one more game. Detroit previously defeated Ottawa 5-3 on January 5, 2026.
