Red Sox Shut Out athletics 7-0, Extend Dominance
BOSTON – The Boston Red Sox continued their mastery over the Oakland Athletics with a decisive 7-0 victory Monday night at Fenway Park. A strong pitching performance from Brayan Bello, coupled with timely hitting, propelled the Red Sox to their 55th win of the season and further solidified their position in the American League playoff race.
This win marks the Red Sox’s 15th in 16 games against Oakland as the start of the 2022 season, outscoring the A’s by a staggering 319-187 margin during that stretch. The consistent success against Oakland provides a crucial boost to Boston’s run differential and confidence as they navigate a competitive AL East. the Red Sox will look to continue their winning ways Tuesday night in the second game of this three-game series.
Bello (8-11) delivered a dominant performance, holding the Athletics scoreless and allowing only three hits over seven innings. He has allowed less then four hits for the first time since August 17th and did not issue a walk for the third consecutive game,showcasing improved control and command.
The Red Sox offense provided early support, beginning with Trevor Story’s 24th home run of the season – a towering shot to left-center field – in the first inning. Boston improved to 54-20 when scoring first this season, demonstrating their ability to capitalize on early leads.
Jarren Duran contributed with two hits, including an RBI single, reaching the 500th hit of his career. Alex Bregman, Christian Narváez, Story, and Masataka Yoshida also recorded multi-hit games, showcasing the depth of the Red Sox lineup.
