Red Hot Chili Peppers and Foo Fighters Revive Rare Songs at Benefit Concert
Red Hot Chili Peppers and Foo Fighters reached deep into their respective archives over the weekend at a Los Angeles benefit concert, resurrecting fan-favorite rarities and deep cuts that had been shelved for decades. Held at the Hollywood Palladium on Saturday, October 17, 2026, the star-studded evening celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, a nonprofit music school co-founded by Chili Peppers bassist Flea and former touring member Keith “Tree” Barry in 2001.
Catalog Surprises at the Hollywood Palladium
Red Hot Chili Peppers opened their set with an instrumental jam before moving into “Can’t Stop.” Quickly pivoting away from standard setlist staples, the band performed “Organic Anti-Beat Box Band” from 1987’s The Uplift Mofo Party Plan and “Blackeyed Blonde” from 1985’s Freaky Styley for the first time since 2000.
Guitarist John Frusciante also brought back “Nevermind,” a track he had not played live with the group since 1992. Frusciante added a rare solo rendition of Carole King’s “Will You Love Me Tomorrow?” to the night’s acoustic offerings. The band’s 10-song set blended these historical callbacks with newer material like “Black Summer” and “Whatchu Thinkin’,” before closing out with “Hey,” “Eddie,” and “Give It Away.”
Foo Fighters Revive Long-Absent Covers
Dave Grohl took the stage for a seven-song performance that spanned Foo Fighters signatures like “Times Like These” and “My Hero,” alongside covers of Mose Allison’s “Young Man Blues” and X’s “Nausea.” His daughter Violet joined him for several tracks during the set.
The centerpiece of Grohl’s appearance arrived when his Foo Fighters bandmates joined him to revive their cover of Gerry Rafferty’s “Baker Street” for the first time since 2007. Originally recorded as an early-career B-side, the song has remained an exceptionally rare addition to their live shows.
Benefit Fundraiser Supports Silverlake Conservatory of Music Students
The high-profile benefit featured additional performances from rapper Vince Staples, with comedian Marc Maron serving as host. Beyond the rare musical pairings, the evening served as an essential fundraiser for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music.

The institution provides weekly music education and scholarship opportunities to more than 900 students in the Los Angeles area. Over 200 of those students receive targeted financial support that covers free weekly individual lessons, instruments, supplies, and access to ensemble classes and summer camp programs designed for families who would otherwise struggle to afford formal music instruction.
Upcoming Tour Itineraries Across the Pacific
While the benefit highlighted local community education in Southern California, Foo Fighters are quickly pivoting back to their international schedule. The band’s Take Cover Tour is slated to reach Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on November 5, 2026, featuring opening sets from Full Flower Moon Band and Mini Skirt.
