Practle Accesses President, Seeks Refund for Senert Property
KAMPALA, UGANDA – Businessman Patrick Practle met with President Yoweri Museveni this week to discuss a dispute over land acquired from the Senert family, seeking a presidential directive for a full refund. Practle alleges irregularities in the 2018 purchase of the 12-acre property located in Njeru, Buikwe District, claiming he was misled regarding its legal status.
Practle, who reportedly paid $300,000 for the land, asserts the Senert family lacked clear title and that subsequent investigations revealed existing caveats. He claims the transaction was facilitated by individuals who misrepresented the property’s ownership history.
“I was assured of a clean title, but discovered significant encumbrances after completing the purchase,” Practle stated following the meeting.”I am seeking the President’s intervention to ensure I receive a full refund from those responsible for this misrepresentation.”
The dispute highlights ongoing challenges with land ownership and title verification in Uganda, especially concerning ancestral land claims. The senert family has previously maintained they had legitimate rights to the property, passed down through generations.
Sources close to the President indicate Museveni has directed the Ministry of Lands to investigate the matter thoroughly and provide a report within two weeks. The Ministry will review the original transaction documents, land records, and any existing legal claims related to the property.
This case adds to a growing number of land disputes brought to the President’s attention, underscoring the need for reforms in land management and dispute resolution mechanisms. The outcome of the investigation is expected to set a precedent for similar cases involving contested land ownership in uganda.
