The Bravo star took action this week, making her social media accounts private in response to intense online backlash. While en route to Europe, Caperna locked her Instagram account to prevent further abusive messages.
Screenshots shared with the Daily Mail revealed disturbing messages, including death wishes directed at Caperna and threats against her child.
Caperna stated that she is bringing the abuse to light, so people understand how difficult the situation has become for her family and for other reality television actors.
“I’m sick of threats and slurs being normalized because ‘we signed up for this when we joined reality TV,’”

She added, “That’s sick and not normal and I’m not ever going to pretend it’s normal or acceptable to message strangers threats and slurs.”
Online harassment has surged in recent years, with a 38% increase reported in severe cases from 2023 to 2024 (Pew Research Center, 2024).
Reality TV and Online Abuse
Caperna voiced her frustration with the normalization of online abuse directed at reality TV stars. She is now focused on setting boundaries on social media, emphasizing the importance of healthy dialogue about reality TV and its impact on modern culture.
“It’s sad to me that people go this far, it’s definitely the worst part about this ‘job,’”
she stated.
Caperna says she supports healthy discussions about reality TV and believes the shows can spark some of today’s best cultural discourse.
