Real Sociedad Crush Lillestrøm 6-0 for First EL Win

Three assists from Mikel Oyarzabal and two goals from Sergio Gómez propelled Real Sociedad to a dominant 6-0 away victory against Lillestrøm on October 22 in the UEFA Europa League league phase, according to Football Channel.

First European Win of the Tournament

The emphatic result secures Real Sociedad’s first win of the tournament, lifting the Spanish side to four points after three matches in the European competition.

It marks a welcome turnaround in continental play after a difficult start to the campaign. Real Sociedad previously opened with a 2-1 loss to Bournemouth and followed that with a 1-1 draw against Union Saint-Gilloise after conceding a late equalizer.

Carrying Domestic Momentum to Norway

Japan international winger Takefusa Kubo made his second start for the club in Norway, featuring for 58 minutes before being replaced by Pablo Marín.

First-Half Blitz Establishes Total Control

The visiting side established control early in the first half.

In the 25th minute, Gómez opened the scoring from an Oyarzabal assist. Just two minutes later, the exact same combination struck again as Gómez added his second goal.

The pressure did not let up. In the 33rd minute, Oyarzabal gathered a clearance from the opposing goalkeeper’s long kick and fed Luka Sučić, who converted to make it 3-0. Oyarzabal completed his three-assist performance before the halftime whistle.

Second-Half Substitutes Seal Six-Goal Rout

Alguacil began rotating the squad at the break, replacing Mamadou Sarr with Jon Pacheco. Further changes followed in the 58th minute, with Kubo and Oyarzabal making way for Marín and Óri Óskarsson.

The substitutes maintained the offensive pressure without interruption. Óskarsson scored in the 64th minute, and Sučić netted his second of the night in the 72nd minute. Arsen Zakharyan then completed the 6-0 scoreline with a final goal in the 80th minute.

Looking Ahead to Lyon

Real Sociedad have now scored an imposing 11 goals across their last two official matches in all competitions.

The club’s European schedule continues next month on November 5 with a home fixture against French side Lyon.
