Ray J Sued by American Express, Faces Criminal & Defamation Cases
Singer Ray J is currently facing a lawsuit from American Express for $78,704.56 in unpaid credit card debt, according to a complaint filed in the Superior Court of California. The lawsuit alleges that Ray J ceased making payments on the account in October 2024.
This is not the first time American Express has pursued legal action against the 45-year-old singer. Previously, the company filed a similar lawsuit against him, and he is also currently involved in a separate legal dispute with Tronix Network over approximately $139,849.85 in unpaid bills, a case filed in December 2025, days before his arrest on other charges.
Beyond the financial disputes, Ray J is also facing criminal charges related to an alleged incident involving his estranged wife, Princess Love. He was arrested in November 2025 following a livestream argument where he allegedly brandished a firearm.
Adding to his legal challenges, Ray J is also embroiled in a defamation lawsuit brought by Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, stemming from a 2003 sex tape.
The current American Express lawsuit also names Rajun Cajun Inc., a company reportedly connected to Ray J, as a defendant. The credit card company maintains that Ray J’s failure to pay began in October 2024.
