Ray Evernham has initiated the sale of physical assets related to the Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) series, including race cars, transporters, adn equipment, according to a listing with auctioneer Mecum Auctions. The move comes as Evernham transitions away from direct involvement with SRX, which is undergoing ownership changes and preparing for its 2025 season.
The auction,scheduled for January 24-26,2025,in Kissimmee,Florida,represents a notable shift for the series founded in 2021. evernham’s decision to liquidate these assets follows the sale of SRX to Thunder Road Investments in August 2024, led by Morris Motorsports owner Doug Morris. The sale impacts teams, drivers, and fans as the series enters a new era under different leadership, and the auction provides an prospect for individuals and organizations to acquire a piece of SRX history.
The auction inventory includes six complete SRX race cars, each built to a standardized specification for close competition. These cars feature chassis constructed by Ilmor Engineering and engines developed by Tony Stewart.
