Rashee Rice Sued for Alleged Domestic Abuse: Details of Assault Claims

February 19, 2026 Emma Walker – News Editor News

A civil lawsuit filed this week in Dallas County, Texas, accuses Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice of a pattern of domestic abuse, alleging repeated assaults over a period of nearly two years. The suit, brought by Dacoda Nichole Jones, details incidents of alleged physical violence occurring in both Texas and Missouri between December 2023 and July 2025.

According to court documents, the alleged assaults included instances of grabbing, choking, strangling, pushing, throwing, scratching, hitting, and headbutting. Jones also alleges that Rice engaged in destructive behavior, including destroying property, punching walls, breaking furniture, and forcibly removing her from their home. The lawsuit claims a significant portion of the alleged abuse occurred while Jones was pregnant.

The lawsuit seeks monetary relief exceeding $1 million. It specifically cites incidents on February 16, 2024. August 23, 2024; and October 24, 2024, as resulting in “severe and permanent injuries” to Jones. The initial alleged assault occurred in December 2023, where Rice is accused of strangling Jones at their residence in Victory Park, Texas.

These legal proceedings follow a series of off-field issues for Rice. He began the 2025 NFL season serving a six-game suspension stemming from an Easter Sunday crash in Dallas in March 2024. During the 2025 season, Rice appeared in eight games for the Chiefs, recording 53 receptions for 571 yards and 5 touchdowns as the team finished with a 6-11 record.

Prior to filing the lawsuit, Jones publicly accused Rice of abuse in an Instagram post in February, sharing images of cuts and bruises, as well as property damage. That post was subsequently deleted.

The Kansas City Chiefs acknowledged awareness of the allegations and stated they are in communication with the National Football League. “The club is aware & remains in communication with the National Football League,” a team spokesperson said Wednesday.

A hearing in the civil case is scheduled for May 4, 2026. Rice has not yet been criminally charged in connection with Jones’ allegations.
