Raphinha February 2026: Barcelona Improvement Needed | Viral Post

February 17, 2026 Dr. Michael Lee – Health Editor Health

Barcelona winger Raphinha acknowledged the need for improvement following the team’s 4-0 defeat to Atlético Madrid in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final on Thursday, posting on social media, “Bueno, tenemos muchas cosas que mejorar, pero no solo nosotros.” The loss has prompted internal criticism from coach Hansi Flick, who reportedly delivered a harsh dressing-down to his players, questioning their spirit and intensity.

The setback comes as Barcelona attempt to regain the LaLiga summit, currently trailing Real Madrid by a single point. Flick confirmed Raphinha is expected to return to the squad for Monday’s league match against Girona, offering a boost to the team’s attacking options. Though, Marcus Rashford remains sidelined with a knee injury, a continuing concern for the German coach.

Raphinha’s return to training has been gradual, participating in sessions with the team on both Friday and Saturday, according to reports. A final assessment will be made on Sunday before the trip to Estadi Municipal de Montilivi. His presence is considered vital, with Flick previously stating Raphinha was “the best in the world” in his position last season.

Despite the anticipated return of Raphinha, Barcelona will still be without several key players. Pedri continues his recovery from a muscle injury, with a return expected in the near future, while Gavi remains out indefinitely following an injury sustained in August. Rashford’s absence further complicates matters, leaving a void on the left wing.

Flick emphasized the need for increased intensity and dynamism in the upcoming match against Girona, acknowledging the opponent’s organizational strength and ability to build from the back. He noted a positive training session, observing confidence and goal-scoring form, but reiterated the Atlético Madrid defeat served as a “lesson.”

Barcelona’s recent application for re-admission to the European Super League, following the club’s decision to terminate its relationship with the European Super League Company, has been unanimously approved by the EFC Board, though this development appears separate from the immediate concerns surrounding team performance. The club’s focus remains on domestic competition, with the Girona match representing a crucial opportunity to close the gap on Real Madrid.
