A late penalty from Nedim Bajrami secured a 2-2 draw for rangers against Dundee United in a dramatic Scottish Premiership encounter at Tannadice Park.
The result leaves Rangers trailing league leaders Celtic and Hearts by nine points, while Dundee United remain five points outside the top six.
Dundee United took the lead through Zac Sapsford, who opened the scoring with a well-placed finish after a run down the right wing. Manager Jim Goodwin had challenged his team to score frist – a feat they hadn’t achieved in thier previous nine matches – and they delivered.
Rangers responded with a long-range effort from Jayden Meghoma,but Dundee United quickly regained the upper hand. Amar Fatah, despite recent inconsistent form, kept possession alive following a cleared header from Kristian Kerezstes, skillfully maneuvering past three defenders before firing a low shot into the bottom corner to double the hosts’ advantage.
United arguably should have extended their lead further when a handball by Emmanuel Fernandez inside the penalty area went unnoticed by the referee – the second such incident in three weeks involving the same player.
Rangers pressed for a goal, and Youssef Chermiti missed a clear possibility, heading wide from close range. However, they were awarded a penalty in the 98th minute when Max Aarons was fouled by Will ferry.
bajrami stepped up and expertly curled the spot-kick into the top corner, salvaging a point for the visitors.
The draw represents only four wins in Danny Rohl’s first ten games as Rangers manager. Dundee United remain in eighth position in the Scottish Premiership table.
