The decision comes as Stellantis seeks cost-effective models too bolster its portfolio.
Launched in Brazil in February 2023, the Rampage quickly gained traction, becoming a significant player in the competitive Brazilian pickup truck market. Ram sold 13,853 units of the Rampage in Brazil during the first half of 2023, making it the third best-selling pickup in the country, behind the Fiat Toro and Chevrolet S10. The truck is built at the Stellantis plant in goiana, Brazil. it shares a platform with the Fiat Toro and jeep Commander, utilizing a modified version of the Small Wide Architecture.
Currently, Ram’s North American lineup consists of the Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and Ram 3500 full-size trucks. Adding the Rampage would fill a crucial gap in the mid-size segment, competing with the Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado, and GMC canyon. Ram last competed in the mid-size segment with the Dakota, discontinued in 2011. Industry analysts suggest a North American launch could occur as early as the 2025 or 2026 model year, pending market analysis and potential re-engineering for U.S. regulations and consumer preferences.
