Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis announced Friday the appointment of Mike McCoy as assistant head coach, adding a veteran presence to the team’s staff.

McCoy, who brings 23 years of NFL coaching experience, most recently served as interim head coach for the Tennessee Titans during the final 11 games of the 2025 season, according to the Raiders’ announcement. Prior to that role, he was a senior offensive assistant with the Titans. From 2022-2024, McCoy coached quarterbacks for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The appointment marks a return to a prominent coaching role for McCoy, who previously spent four seasons as head coach of the San Diego Chargers from 2013-2016. His offenses consistently ranked among the league’s best during his time as a head coach and offensive coordinator with the Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals, achieving a top-10 ranking three times and featuring a top-10 passing attack in six different seasons.

News of McCoy’s hiring was reported by multiple outlets, including Raiders.com, KOLD, Sports Illustrated, and ktnv.com, confirming his extensive background in offensive strategy and player development. His experience includes nine seasons with the Carolina Panthers from 2000-2008, where he began his NFL coaching career.

A native of Novato, California, McCoy played quarterback at Long Beach State and Utah before beginning his NFL career as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos in 1995. The Raiders did not disclose the terms of McCoy’s contract.
