Radio Slovakia Cancels Entertainment Programs, Section Focused on Misinformation
Bratislava, Slovakia – Director Martina Flašíková has cancelled several entertainment programs on Radio Slovakia, including the “Sirén” and ”Alphabet Clowns Test” shows, and recently discontinued the “Overnuncar” section, which addressed conspiracy theories and misinformation.
The cancellations have left the creators of the affected programs seeking answers. “Why? We don’t know. We didn’t know the reason,” said the creators of “Sirén’s Test.” They added, “Hand on heart, we have been asking for two years, ‘What are we doing wrong that they haven’t canceled us yet?’ Well, we are not vrey sorry,” as posted on their Facebook page.
“Sirén’s Test,” broadcast every fourth Sunday after 11 am since 2018 under the leadership of Jaroslav Rezník, was created by Tomáš Hudák, Samo Trnka, and Kamil Mikulčík.
Prior to the cancellations, the program’s creators noted a sense of unease. They were awaiting a deadline for a September recording, typically communicated by the radio station in early August.
According to Trnka, while no official concerns were raised, they received unofficial indications to exercise caution regarding certain topics. The creators also indicated they believed the cancellations were influenced by the Minister of Culture, though details remain limited.
