Rab C Nesbitt Star Gregor Fisher Embraces Aging, Jokes About Wig-Wearing Co-Star, and Plans Interactive Stage Show
Greenock, Scotland – Actor Gregor Fisher, best known for his iconic portrayal of Rab C Nesbitt, is embarking on a new interactive stage show, “An Evening With…”, where he’ll answer audience questions entirely in character as himself. The tour, beginning March 13th at the Memorial Hall in Lanark, comes as Fisher reflects on his career and a growing acceptance of the aging process – a process he wryly observed a colleague attempting to mask with a gray wig, despite already possessing grey hair.
fisher, now cozy with his own silvering hair, recalls a past experience with a co-star’s insistence on a wig, stating, “You’re fine, Stanley, I think the wig’s overkill!” This anecdote underscores a broader conversation about the pressures of maintaining a youthful appearance in the entertainment industry, a pressure Fisher seems content to sidestep. He acknowledges the temptation some performers face to rely on aids like earpieces for lines, but firmly believes, “If you can’t do it any more, you should just do something else.”
The upcoming show promises a candid Q&A session with fans, though Fisher anticipates setting boundaries on overly personal inquiries. ”OK, there might potentially be certain things I don’t want to talk about, personal things. But I can’t imagine somebody coming along to the Beacon Arts Center in Greenock and asking, ‘How many times a week do you shag your wife?'” he joked. He intends to answer questions truthfully, recognizing “everybody likes a good story.”
Fisher’s motivation for the tour is refreshingly pragmatic. “I’m doing it,” he concluded, “as I love a laugh, it’s not too much pressure, and I might make a couple of quid. What’s not to be happy about?”
“An Evening With Gregor Fisher” will tour following its march 13th debut in Lanark, with dates available at https://fieryentertainment.com/our-shows/gregor-fisher/.
