Ottawa – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announced Friday, August 30, 2025, the recall of four products due to potential salmonella contamination. This expands a growing nationwide recall of items containing pistachios, as health officials investigate a widespread salmonella outbreak.
Recent weeks have seen multiple product recalls across Canada connected to the salmonella hatching. The current recall affects products sold as early as August 9, 2025, and as late as August 16, 2025, impacting consumers nationwide. The CFIA is working to identify the source of the contamination and prevent further spread.
The recalled items include two products from Montlo Simonne Montreal: packaging of cherries and pistachios coated with chocolate and pink petals, and dark chocolate eggs made with pistachios and raspberries. Additionally, two Baklavas pastries sold at Carrefour Laval have been recalled.
The CFIA advises consumers to check thier homes for the recalled products and either discard them or return them to the place of purchase. The agency states that salmonella can cause serious illness, particularly in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
