Quavo Launches Trauma Fund to Support Atlanta Gun Violence Victims

Atlanta, GA – Rapper Quavo has launched an Emergency Trauma Therapy Fund to support victims of gun violence in his hometown of Atlanta. The initiative, established in partnership with The Rocket Foundation, comes in the wake of a especially violent weekend that saw nearly 50 people shot across the city.

The fund’s creation is a direct response to the surge in violence, which tragically impacted the Rocket Foundation’s community. Among the victims were 18-year-old Deshawn Johnson, a participant in Rocket Camp in 2024, and Aaron “Coach Ball” Hines, a Rocket Foundation grantee and Offender Alumni leader. The foundation is actively raising and donating funds to provide crucial mental health resources for those affected by these incidents.

According to a July 29 report by local news outlet 11Alive, Atlanta experienced a significant spike in gun violence over a four-day period, with 47 individuals shot and five fatalities. This surge resulted in a 16% week-over-week increase in shootings and homicides for the year, despite a previous downward trend.

Donations to the Emergency Trauma Therapy Fund are being accepted through the official Rocket Foundation website at https://www.pledge.to/rocket-foundation/.

Quavo established the Rocket Foundation in November 2022 to honor his nephew and Migos bandmate, Takeoff, who was fatally shot in October 2022.The foundation collaborates with local non-profits to implement community-based programs aimed at reducing gun violence and addressing its aftermath.

In addition to his philanthropic efforts, Quavo is featured on Metro Boomin‘s latest mixtape, Metro Boomin Presents: A Futuristic Summa.
