Qualcomm Snapdragon C: New Budget Processor for Affordable Laptops
Qualcomm is readying its new Snapdragon C processor, packing eight Arm-based cores into budget laptops priced starting at 300 dollars, according to details reported by Tweakers.
The chip targets affordable portable computers. Hardware partners including Acer, HP, and Lenovo are actively working on devices built around the silicon.
The initial wave of these budget laptops is expected to launch shortly. Acer previously displayed a model featuring 8GB of random-access memory and a 512GB solid-state drive during a June showcase, though an official retail price for that specific configuration has not yet been announced.
Kryo Cores and Adreno Graphics under the Hood
The Snapdragon C relies on eight Kryo cores rather than the Oryon architecture found inside Qualcomm’s more expensive Snapdragon X product line.
Tweakers reports that the CPU reaches a maximum clock speed of 3GHz when a single core is active, dropping to 2GHz when all eight cores undergo concurrent workloads. Graphic processing is handled by an Adreno graphics processing unit clocked at 900MHz, accompanied by a Hexagon neural processing unit. Qualcomm has not yet published benchmarks or performance metrics for either the graphics unit or the neural processor.
The system-on-chip accommodates up to 16GB of RAM, though entry-level machines running the processor are expected to ship with lower memory capacities.
Stacking Up Against Intel’s Alder Lake Architecture
Qualcomm claims that the Snapdragon C outperforms Intel’s N250 processor by up to 67 percent in select benchmarks, while delivering up to 2.1 times greater efficiency under battery power.
However, Tweakers notes that the comparison pits Qualcomm’s eight-core design directly against Intel’s four energy-efficient E-core configuration in the N250.
In single-core testing, Qualcomm reports a 50 percent performance advantage for its silicon. The N250 itself sees limited market deployment, with the closely related N150 serving as a more common alternative.
Both Intel parts rely on the older Alder Lake architecture, whereas Intel’s newer Wildcat Lake processors currently command significantly higher market prices.

Qualcomm positions the Snapdragon C to compete directly in the low-cost notebook sector against devices such as Apple’s MacBook Neo.
The manufacturer promises long battery life, thin chassis designs, and minimal thermal output for the upcoming machines, though concrete battery longevity figures have not yet been independently verified.
