Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2025: Sinner vs Mensik & Alcaraz Results – ATP 500 Updates

February 19, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Doha, Qatar – Jannik Sinner of Italy and Jakub Mensik of Czechia were locked in a tight contest Tuesday at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, with Sinner leading 7-6 after over an hour of play, as the ATP 500 event progresses. The tournament, being held as an ATP 500 for the first time, has drawn a strong field including former champions and rising stars.

Earlier in the day, Carlos Alcaraz of Spain defeated Karen Khachanov of Russia 7-6, 6-4, 6-3, advancing in the tournament. The match lasted two hours and 26 minutes. Stefanos Tsitsipas likewise competed, falling to Andrey Rublev in a 3-6, 6-7 match.

The Qatar ExxonMobil Open has a rich history of attracting tennis legends. Roger Federer, a dominant force in the sport, won the tournament a record three times across eight appearances between 2002 and 2021, amassing 27 match wins – a tournament record. Novak Djokovic has also enjoyed success in Doha, securing consecutive titles in 2016, and 2017. Rafael Nadal claimed the singles title in 2014 and has four doubles titles to his name (2005, 2009, 2011, and 2015).

This year’s competition sees Djokovic and Roberto Bautista Agut vying to equal Federer’s record of three Doha titles. The tournament’s elevation to ATP 500 status in 2025 underscores its growing importance on the professional tennis circuit.

A Wilson racquet used by Federer during his 2011 championship win in Doha is currently on display at the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, a testament to his legacy at the event.

The 2026 edition of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open runs from February 16th to 22nd.
