The live-action film adaptation of Nanao’s manga, Jun’ai Joutou! (also known as Pure Love, Bring It On!), debuted in 108 Japanese theaters on February 13, 2026.
The film stars Jutaro Yamanaka as Sato Mitsuru, the leader of Shiraiwa High School and Aloha Takamatsu as Kamei Madoka, the leader of Benisakura High School. Yamanaka, a member of the idol group M!LK, reportedly gained weight and underwent intensive training to prepare for the physically demanding role of Mitsuru. He previously appeared in productions including MBS’s “Ameiro Paradox,” “Atashi no!”, “BADBOYS-THE MOVIE-,” and “Kimi ga Tokubetsu.” M!LK’s song “Biju Ii Jan” reached No. 1 on the TikTok music chart, amassing 500 million views.
Jun’ai Joutou! originally launched on Comic Seymour in December 2024. The manga’s adaptation to film was announced shortly after its debut, generating significant online buzz. Director Yaegashi closely monitored the actors’ performances, according to Yamanaka, who stated, “Director Yaegashi looked closely at our acting, and we responded with our best efforts,” and encouraged audiences to experience the film in theaters.
The story centers on the dynamic between the two high school leaders. According to promotional materials, the film features “powerful action scenes” and a “clumsy yet pure romance.”
Another manga by the same author, Junai Tokkou Taichou! (also known as Love Attack or Pure-Love Kamikaze Captain), follows Chiemi Yusa, a high school student facing expulsion for repeated fighting. She is given a challenge by a teacher: to reform Akifumi Hirata, a notorious fighter, in exchange for clearing her record. The manga, written by Seino Shizuru, currently has 74 translated chapters and is available on MangaBuddy.
