Eight Trani Schools Closed for Regional Election & Sanitization
Trani Mayor Amedeo Bottaro has issued an ordinance mandating the closure of eight school buildings in Trani from the afternoon of Friday,November 21st,through Tuesday,November 25th,2025. The closures are necessary to facilitate the upcoming regional elections for the President of the Puglia Regional Council and the Regional Council itself, scheduled for Sunday, November 23rd and Monday, November 24th.
The extended closure period is specifically to allow for the setup of polling stations, the conduct of the election, and crucially, thorough sanitization and disinfestation of the facilities before students and staff return. The ordinance emphasizes public hygiene, noting that disinfestation procedures managed by Amiu “require decay times of no less than 24 hours following the dispersions, to which must be added the times of adequate cleaning.” This timeframe necessitates a closure equivalent to those implemented during “serious events” that restrict access to the buildings.
A logistical adjustment, previously planned, will see voting sections normally held at the temporarily closed “Sandro Pertini” nursery school relocated to the “Giovanni Beltrani” primary school. The Beltrani school is equipped to accommodate the additional sections on its accessible first floor.
The following schools will be affected by the closure: «Baldassarre» (Piazza Dante), «Beltrani» (via La Pira), «Bovio» (Corso Imbriani), «Mother Teresa of Calcutta» (via Papa giovanni XXIII), «Cezza» (via Grecia), «De Amicis» (via De Roggiero), «Dell’Olio» (via Falcone), and «Petronelli» (via Paolo Emilio).
