Fargo, ND – Heather’s House, a new facility dedicated to providing compassionate end-of-life care, celebrated its grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The event highlighted the community’s notable role in bringing the project to fruition.
HIA Health Executive Director Tracee Capron, speaking at the event, acknowledged the ample fundraising efforts required to establish the facility. She specifically thanked key donors Dan Butler, Heather Butler, and Steve Scheel for their financial contributions that were instrumental in making Heather’s House a reality.
The facility bears the name of Heather Butler, who has been a hospice patient volunteer for over two decades. Butler shared how her volunteer work profoundly impacted her life’s trajectory.
Adding to the significance of the day, Mary Christy, a field representative for Gov. Kelly armstrong, announced that the governor had officially proclaimed July 22 as “Heather’s house Day” in North Dakota. This declaration visibly moved Capron.
Attendees on the warm summer day were able to tour the facility, which supporters emphasized was a testament to community-driven support. The sentiment was echoed by Andrews, who stated, “Let this place remind us that even when life is most fragile, there is still light, still beauty and still love to be given and received.”
