Protect Your Mental Health When Watching Graphic ICE Shooting Footage

February 8, 2026 Dr. Michael Lee – Health Editor Health

Graphic footage depicting the fatal shootings of Renee Good on january 7th and Alex Pretti on January 24th by federal agents has circulated widely online, sparking outrage and raising questions about the use of force by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officers in Minnesota. These incidents, along with other documented confrontations, have fueled concerns about escalating tensions between federal law enforcement and local communities.

Renee Good, a 30-year-old woman, was shot and killed by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agent Jonathan Ross during a welfare check in Minneapolis. Body camera footage released by the Minneapolis Police Department shows Ross shooting Good after she allegedly pointed a handgun at him. The incident remains under investigation by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA). NBC News reports that the BCA is investigating whether the shooting was justified.

Just weeks later, on January 24th, Alex Pretti, a 22-year-old man, was fatally shot by federal agents during a raid in St. Paul. According to the Pioneer Press, Pretti was killed during an operation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). details surrounding the shooting are still emerging, and the ATF has not released a comprehensive statement. Fox 9 reported that the ATF confirmed agents were serving a search warrant.

These shootings have prompted protests and calls for greater clarity and accountability from DHS and its agencies.Community activists and civil rights groups are demanding independent investigations into both incidents and a review of DHS policies regarding the use of force. MinnPost details the protests that followed Good’s shooting, with demonstrators demanding justice and an end to what they describe as excessive force by law enforcement.

The incidents also highlight a broader trend of increased federal law enforcement activity in Minnesota. DHS agencies, including ICE, ATF, and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), have been increasingly involved in operations within the state, often without clear communication or coordination with local authorities. This has led to friction and mistrust between federal and local law enforcement, as well as concerns among residents about potential abuses of power.

the Department of Homeland Security has not yet issued a comprehensive response to the recent events in Minnesota. Though, officials have stated that they are committed to conducting thorough investigations and ensuring that all agents adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and accountability. The investigations into the shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti are ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge in the coming weeks and months.
