Servette FC did not have much luck in the draw for the Europa Conference League play-offs. They were handed the big favourites in the competition: Chelsea. And they lost the first leg away (2-0). The Swiss club was present in the 3rd round of the Europa League qualifiers, but was knocked out by SC Braga (cumulative score: 1-2). Thomas Häberli’s team had been able to get started in the Super League by winning their first 3 matches before losing the following 2 matches. They are not in great shape for this return leg of the play-off, this Thursday at 8:30 p.m., at the Stade de Genève.
Even away from home, Chelsea could well manage to impose themselves. Before winning the first leg of the C4 play-off, the London club had lost their Premier League debut against Manchester City (0-2). No reason to be alarmed for Enzo Maresca’s men. Having had many recruits throughout the summer (Jorgensen, Neto, Félix…), the Blues were able to raise their heads last weekend. Away on the Wolves pitch, they were able to offer themselves a very large victory (2-6). They will intend to continue on the European stage, with a view to building up confidence for the rest of the season.
